Thursday 24th October 2019 • 10:00 am - 4:00pm • £55.00

Suitable for all levels • All materials and refreshments included - (just bring a packed lunch).

During this hands-on workshop you will investigate how to get to grips with creative collage and find your own personal way:

  • Many significant artists have glued down pieces of cut paper since Picasso first cut out and struck a piece of real newspaper onto a cubist collage over 100 years ago which was revolutionary at the time.

  • The surrealist Max Ernst ingeniously crafted together cut up illustrations from Victorian novels to produce a totally new outlandish freudian narrative and Hannah Hoch and John Heartfield in Germany had antifascist and sociological motives.

  • David Bowie randomly took scissors to his lyrics to elicit new meaning.

  • Collage is also a great way to bring a new creativity to your imagery if you're stuck with what to draw or paint, as well as being an art form in its own right.

  • The workshop is suitable for all levels. All materials and refreshments are provided but please feel to bring any materials you would particularly like to use,
but it is not a necessity.
