During this workshop you will have a great deal of fun exploring and being taught techniques of building up your concertina sketchbook with artist Karen Stamper:

  • You will develop your sketchbook pages in a supportive environment

  • We will work with inks, pens, pencils and collage to develop up to 30 pages in your concertina sketchbook

  • You will be responding to the collage elements and mark making, as Karen does in her sketchbooks

  • You will be explore lots of techniques and go away inspired to carry on


Karen Stamper is a mixed media artist who is never without a sketchbook. In her concertina books she collect and collages to build up layers, and combines this with exciting mark making. This work feeds into her collage paintings, often on the theme of shipyards and boats. Karen, now living in Cambridge, grew up in Hedon, near Hull, and reckons that the docks and boats seeped into her system!

Terms and conditions: A 50% deposit is required to book a place on any course or workshop with the balance due the week before the start date. In the unlikely event we have to cancel a course or workshop you deposit will be returned to you in full. Should you have to cancel a your place on a workshop or course, your deposit will be returned to you or transferred to another course if your cancellation is 7 days or more before the commencement of the courses or workshop. If less than 7 days notice is given the deposit is non refundable unless we can fill your place in which case it shall be returned to you.
