York Art & Crafts has developed quite naturally over the last eleven years. Beginning with Pennie & Kevin Lordan sharing their professional skills and knowledge in art, design, woodwork and furniture making, soon were joined by other professional practitioners and skilled teachers.

York Art & Crafts continued to grow and pass skills forward and develop individuals skills, knowledge, understanding and experiences of art, design and crafts. It is also important to us that York Art & Crafts is an accommodating and welcoming environment where the teaching is of a high standard, delivered by professionals able to differentiate and be perceptive to individual requirements and level. Therefore tutors are not only good practitioners in their individual fields, but also able at share their expertise through their teaching, two very different skill sets that are not always that easy to come across. Hence, we are most proud and delighted to have the strong body of tutors that we have at York Art & Crafts and are always open to new professional practitioners coming on board. Our move to Copmanthorpe, just outside York nearly 3 years ago has provided us with more space and a tranquil and beautiful situation where we are incredibly fortunate to have much wildlife around the studio providing much pleasure and supports the nurturing environment that we value.

Our ethos at York Art & Crafts where we support and encourage artistic development and what is most rewarding is when people leave a workshop or a course at York Art & Crafts wanting to further develop their art or craft, which happens a great deal and it is something we’re most proud of and excited about being a part of.

Below are a few examples of the various art and crafts pieces and experiences that people have created at York Art & Crafts over the last 11 years. We offer and provide a wide variety of Art, Design and Craft courses and workshops for all levels and all taught be professional qualified and practising artists & craftspeople offering good value. Our courses and workshops are regularly updated and developing. Therefore if there is something you are interested in attended but cannot see, please get in touch and let us know - we'd be happy to see if we can make it happen.
