Do you fancy bringing Venice to York and developing your experience, skills and knowledge of watercolour painting, whatever your level? if so this workshop if just the thing for you...Venice, being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, has inspired painters by its stunning and evocative vistas for hundreds of years; now you too can create paintings with magical atmosphere of this wonderful city in watercolour by following clear step-by-step instructions.
During this workshop you will: Explore combinations of washes and paint wet on wet using flat brushes; Gain exciting insight to colour mixing, vibrant mark making and ‘lost’ and ‘found’ edges; and get inspired by Turner's watercolours. During the afternoon you will create your own painting of Venice (you can bring photos, printed images of views you would like to work from/ Alternatively, you can transfer the drawing of your choice provided to watercolour paper and you are ready to start.
There will be numerous tips to help you how to capture mood, paint realistic skies, water and architecture and reproduce stunning light effects, all of which are essential for capturing the essence and beauty of venice.

Tutor: Julia Borodina is a Russian-born fine artist, who has a passion for colour, loose painting technique and enjoys using impressionistic approaches within her work. Julia holds a BA in fine art from Omsk University, Russia and an MA in painting from the University of Wolverhampton. Julia has 10 years experience of designing and leading creative workshops specialising in watercolour, acrylic and oil painting. Julia's work has been exhibited at The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours annual exhibition and at The Royal Society of Birmingham artists. www.juliaborodina.co.uk
