CREATIVE WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP

NEW WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP WITH ARTIST JULIA BORODINA

THROUGH A SERIES OF CAREFULLY CONCEIVED EXERCISES AND CREATIVE ACCIDENTS INVOLVING TEXTURES AND EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES, YOU WILL SEE HOW WATERCOLOUR CAN BE MANIPULATED TO CREATE WORK THAT HAD A BALANCE OF SHAPE, FORM AND LIGHT. YOU WILL WORK FROM OBSERVATION USING YOUR OWN PHOTOS, ALTERNATIVELY IMAGERY WILL BE PROVIDED AS A STARTING POINT. A HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE OF THIS EASY, ACCESSIBLE BUT AT THE SAME TIME COMPLEX MEDIUM WILL ENCOURAGE FREE EXPERIMENTATION RESULTING IN EXCITING OUTCOMES.

DURING THE DAY YOU WILL INVESTIGATE DIFFERENT WAYS TO USE BRUSHES, USE MANIPULATING EFFECTS AND DEVELOP CREATIVE STYLES. YOU WILL BE INTRODUCED TO WORKING WITH ADDITIONAL MATERIALS - FOR EXAMPLE FLUID AND CELLOPHANE - TO CREATE FURTHER, MORE EXPERIMENTAL EFFECTS AND TEXTURES. YOU WILL CREATE A NUMBER OF PEICES EXPLORING A LOOSE AND BOLD APPROACH TO WORKING WITH WATERCOLOUR.

TEACHING IS PROFESSIONAL ADN ENCOURAGING, THE WORKSHOP WILL SUIT BEGINNERS AS WELLAS EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONERS, ITS AIM BEING TO EXPLORE AND WIDEN THE BOARDERS OF WATERCOLOUR PAINTING.

TUTOR: JULIA BORODINA IS A RUSSIAN-BORM FINE ARTIST, WHO HAS A PASSION FOR COLOUR, LOOSE PAINTING TECHNIQUE AND ENJOYS USING IMPRESSIONISTIC APPROACHES WITHIN HER WORK. JULIA HOLDS A BA IN FINE ART FROM OMSK UNIVERSITY, RUSSIA AND AN MA IN PAINTING FROM UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON. SHE HAS 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE OF DESIGNING AND LEADING CREATIVE WORKSHOPS SPECIALISING IN WATERCOLOUR, ACRYLIC AND OIL PAINTING. JULIA'S WORK HAS BEEN EXHIBITED AT THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF PAINTERS IN WATER COLOURS ANUAL EXHIBITION AND AT THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF BIRMINGHAM ARTISTS. www.juliaborodina.co.uk
