Five Week Course - Discover and Develop Watercolour

Tutor: Julia Borodina is a Russian-born fine artist, who has a passion for colour, loose painting technique and enjoys using impressionistic approaches within her work. Julia holds a BA in Fine Art from Omsk University, Russia and an MA in painting from University of Wolverhampton. Julia has 10 years experience of designing and leading creative workshops specialising in watercolour, acrylic and oil painting. Julia's work has been exhibited at The Royal Institute of Painters in the water colours annual exhibition and at The Royal Society of Birmingham Artists. www.juliaborodina.co.uk
During the first two sessions of the course you will try a number of approaches to mixing colours, gain an experience of recognising qualities of pigments, practice to apply washes, be able to use brushes to your advantages and explore tonal and colour values. The following sessions will encourage you to develop your watercolour painting skills further. you will be working from observation as well as from your own research and photographs, following personal subject interest. By the end of the course, you will gain experience of recognising positive and negative spaces, practice applying multiple layer washes, building up depth within your work and develop a personal approach to watercolour painting. teaching is informal and encouraging.
