Heather Dawe has been teaching willow weaving courses and workshops for over 15 years, fascinated by willow and the fact that a pile of wet sticks can be made into something both beautiful and practical. Drawing on teachings from tutors around the world Heather teaches different ways of twisting and turning the sticks and using different techniques to make both traditional and contemporary baskets and sculptures.
During this Rustic Willow Basket Making Workshop you shall:
- Make your own rustic/hedgerow basket by first making a frame and then weave the basket around the frame
- You will learn about willow – the different sorts and the preparation and some new words relating to basket weaving as well as a variety of weaving techniques
- At the end of the day you will have your own willow basket to take home
-All materials and tools are provided, (however if you have a favourite sharp pair of secateurs and a strong penknife feel free to bring them along though not essential)
Instructions will be given throughout the day and help will always be at hand.
The course is suitable for those with some experience and those with absolutlely none at all
