Creative Writing Workshop - 'From Image to Word' - with writer and published author Liz Cashdan (BA. PGCE, MA (twice) PhD, FHEA.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to have Liz Cashdan  come and teach this Creative Writing  workshop. You can find out about Liz here: www.lizcashdan.weebly.com

From Image to Word - In this workshop we will look at writers who have taken their inspiration from paintings and photographs and then we will  write our own poems and stories.  The workshop will be suitable for beginning writers in prose and poetry and for more experienced practitioners.

We will start with W.H. Auden's Musee des Beaux Art which is a poem inspired by Breughel's  the Fall of Icarus so that we have both painting and poem as prompts.  Then we'll look at other well-known and lesser known reproductions.  Participants will be given some help through questions, for example;  What happened just before this painting was painted?  What happened just after?  Can you write something in the voice of the painter? In the voice of the sitter or one of the people in the painting?

Come and surprise yourself. This writing workshop is suitable for absolutely all levels, from beginners and practised writers. There will be stimulus material for writing and then you will have the option of sharing and critiquing work in a friendly and supportive environment.
