These two workshop (one on Monday 25th June and one on Monday 3rd July can be attended individually or as a mini course and are designed for anyone wanting to discover and develop your watercolour or acrylic painting outside the studio space.
These two days will provide you with opportunity to develop your skills, techniques and confidence in painting Plein Air, exploring the environment around you.
You can use this to be inspired by various light conditions, develop resilience to changing weather as well as gain an insight to challenges of an outdoor practitioner. You will have the opportunity to produce small/ short studies as well as a larger piece of work.
Each session will have its own focus and it will be up to you which medium you might like to use on the day, don’t forget that you can mix them too, for example watercolour and ink. We will study: sky and clouds, perspective, light and shadows, trees, flowers and composition.
If the weather becomesstormy or and wet, the session can continue in the studio.
Please dress in comfortable clothes and shoes for the day. Each session will begin with a discussion and taught focus before gathering materials and explore the surrounding areas of Greenwood Studio with it’s birch trees, surrounding fields and agricultural buildings, and choosing your selected viewpoint to paint. You may wish to bring a foldable chair or a light easel however you are welcome to use chairs and stools form the studio and boards are avaiable for working on.
Tutor: Julia Borodina is a Russian-born fine artist, who has a passion for colour, loose painting technique and enjoys using impressionistic approaches within her work. Julia holds a BA in fine art from Omsk University, Russia and an MA in painting from the University of Wolverhampton. Julia has 10 years experience of designing and leading creative workshops specialising in watercolour, acrylic and oil painting. Julia's work has been exhibited at The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours annual exhibition and at The Royal Society of Birmingham artists. www.juliaborodina.co.uk
