Ann Blockley - Experimental techniques In Spring Landscape Watercolour Workshop with artist Julia Borodina - When: Wednesday 12th June2019 - Time: 10am - 3.00pm - Level: All - All materials & refreshments included (just bring a packed lunch) - Cost: £45 - Limited places available
The workshop is about very much about how to break free, to create your own works using the watercolour medium, which is perfect for making wonderfully fluid, abstract or representational works. Through a series of carefully conceived exercises and creative accidents involving textures, experimental techniques you will see how the medium can be manipulated to create works, from a variety of sources that have a balance of shape, form, and light. You will work from observation using your own photos, alternatively imagery will be provided as a starting point. A hands on experience of this easy accessible but at the same time complex combination painting techniques will allow free experimenting with the medium.
During the day, you will investigate how to use brushes to your advantages, manipulating effects and creative styles, apply masking fluid and cellophane for additional effects and textures, and finally, work into detail and try loose and bold approaches to painting. You will create a number of various size outcomes. Teaching is informal and encouraging. This workshop will suit a beginner as well as an art practitioner who wishes to explore and further develop their watercolour painting.
