Woodcut printmaking has its own unique characteristics and aesthetic, its not just a way of reproducing an existing drawing. During this workshop you shall:
*Get to grips with the essential drawing and cutting techniques
*try out a variety of cutting tools
*explore the repertoire of marks traditional and experimental
*roll ink on your block
*print (using trad. wooden spoon method)
*recognise its idiosynchracies, the power of its graphic directness
*study and be inspired by examples of great 20th century woodcut artists, eg. Kirchner, Stepanova and Nolde.

Tutor: Tim Morrison trained at The Royal College of Art and Edinburgh, has exhibited in York and London and has many years experience teaching successful, varied and interesting art classes. Tim regularly exhibits in York Open Studios.
