Collage Workshop -When: Tuesday 20th March 2018 -with artist Patrick Smith - Time: 10am - 4pm - Cost: £50 - All levels welcome - All materials and refreshments provided (just bring a packed lunch)
During this workshop you shall produce a concise body of work utilising techniques associated with found images and materials. All materials are provided, however to maximise your experience if you would like to bring any found ephemera, old newspapers, old stamps bus tickets any thing at all that you personally find interesting visually and that you are prepared to destroy and use, please do so. Patrick also asks that suspend any preconceived ideas associated with image making and what constitutes art. The key ingredient of any successful work be it figurative or abstract is a letting go so with good humour and an open mind we promise you a day to remember!
Patrick Smith is an established artist in fine art and printmaking having work in many private collections both nationally and internationally. His practice concentrates on ideas associated with the edge and devices in composition and form. Patrick studied painting and printmaking at Leeds Metropolitan University where he was awarded the William Tier memorial award for Landscapes and Erasmus scholarship to train at the Utrecht School of the Arts in Holland. Patrick Smith is an established painter / printmaker utilising a myriad of techniques in painting that crossover from a highly specialised knowledge of printmaking. Patrick’s work and influences derive from a special interest in abstract expressionism and techniques associated with automatic drawing this approach encompasses the production of collages which form part of Patrick’s studio output.
