During this workshop you shall have the opportunity to be taught  figure drawing and portraiture through figure drawing/sketching, practical exercises, short sketches and long studies. Figures are often a key element in the work of artists. They add an interest point, character and key focus to a composition. Have you noticed that adding a figure or two can make a painting or easily spoil it? We tend to draw each person individually and then colour them in, clearly distinguishing details. But it is not the way we see. The artist’s brain actually sees only a few shapes of light and dark. This workshop will be full of tips and ideas on how to break through from a tentative sketching to a much accurate and confident drawings. You will use a variety of drawing and painting tools to explore actual pattern of lights and darks that enters your brain as you see it. You will work from photos and from observation, so be prepared to appear in some expressive sketches.
