This is a technique employed by Laurie Steen on a substrate called Dura-lar This is a semi-transparent acetate film with a slight tooth to allow the use of graphite or other types of pencil. In this course we will use both Conte and Faber- Castell oil base pencils. These allow a great variety of tone and are erasable to create very soft effects on the surface bringing a wonderful sense of atmosphere to work. Drawings can be layered up and mounted on various backgrounds. We will work on landscapes in this workshop, but the media would easily work with other subject matter.
