During this workshop you shall be encouraged to work from an objective drawing or photograph and concentrate on moving away from depicting reality and encouraged to use colour experimentally and expressively. We will look at artist over the last 100 years who have explored ways making paintings that express feeling. You will be working in acrylic paints on paper and canvas and will be able to take your own small canvas painting to take home as well as having the opportunity to work on a larger communal piece.
If you have a drawing that you’ve made or a photograph that you would like to work from please feel free to bring these with you, otherwise a range of images with be provided for you to explore moving away from realistic drawing to more expressive paintings, be it urban cityscapes or rural landscapes.
