Hawthorn Printmaker Supplies is a family run business, offering high quality range of printmaking equipment to artist. They manufacture their own range of presses and unique Stay Open inks along with all other printmaking supplies. Barry & Michael’s inks are made using vegetable based varnishes and contain no heavy metals. Many years ago pigments were made from lead, arsenic and cadmium salts. Whilst they produced bright colours many were very toxic. Even now we may still use the original names of these pigments, such as Cadmium Yellow but they only use none toxic alternatives.
During this workshop Barry will demonstrate and explain how you can get the very most from your printing inks from how the transparency works, to how you can make greens without using any blue, to make greys without black and much more. You will leave with a record and knowledge and understanding printing colour and how to get the most from your printing inks.
