During this workshop look at a variety of methods and approaches to tackling expressive skies in acrylic paint:

  • Learn about colour use in blue and clouded sky.

  • Explore methods for representing a variety of cloud formations

  • Investigate how different acrylic techniques can help achieve creating effective skies

You will work on acrylic paper. All materials will be provided, however, please feel free to bring along some images of skies that inspire you to work from if you would like to work from, there will be some provided and hopefully there will be a chance to work from the actual sky too! You will work by exploring the work of artist David Tress, learn about his representational landscape painting, and particularly, how a personal, expressive 'gut response' painting can be underpinned with keen observation, drawing and painting skills. Visual imagery will be provided, however please feel free to bring along any images or drawings to work from to produce some exciting and inspirational work. The course will value an expressive, emotional and spiritual response to landscape. During this workshop you will have the opportunity to complete a number of short exercises and a longer study.

 

Phil Reynolds who studied Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 1997 and has since pursued a career as an artist. He has been exhibiting his work in contemporary galleries throughout the North of England as well as London and Bristol affordable art fairs. Phil's work explores the ground between abstraction and figuration where forms emerge from a fluid use of acrylic paint. His work is both instinctive and keenly observed bringing together raw marks with more mediated responses. www.philreynoldsfineart.co.uk

In the unlikely event we have to cancel a course or workshop you deposit will be returned to you in full. Should you have to cancel a your place on a workshop or course, your deposit will be returned to you or transferred to another course if your cancellation is 7 days or more before the commencement of the courses or workshop. If less than 7 days notice is given the deposit is non refundable unless we can fill your place in which case it shall be returned to you.
